ALEXIS — Alexis Village Board members met Monday evening at the community center. The board discussed the sidewalk in front of the former site of Alexis High School and decided to have village employees remove the old cement. A bid from Rush Cement Finishing of Aledo was approved. The $5,000 bid includes pouring, cutting and finishing the sidewalk. Three bids were received for the project.

Cardinal Convenience owner Raj Pahl Singh was present to request the board’s permission to install gaming machines at his business. He will be issued a Class B license for the sale and consumption of liquor on the premises, as his request was approved by the trustees.

Village employee Jim Olson reported on heavy duty forks for the village’s tractor. The board approved the purchase from Martin Sullivan at a cost of $1,100.

Trick-or-treat hours were set for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. Participants will meet at the town hall at 5 p.m., then parade down Main Street and go to the community center for a hot dog supper, followed by trick-or-treating.

In routine matters, the board approved the September meeting minutes, the treasurer’s report and the payment of bills that totaled about $27,150. Included was the cost of the audit, which was $5,100, and supplies for painting the dome at the sewer plant, which is complete. Also approved was the trimming of a tree on village property on North Scott Street for a total of $950. The work was done by Lee Tree Service of Monmouth.

Board members then toured the former OSF clinic, which is now in the village’s possession.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 12.
